The Club for all
that's New in the Cavy World
Our
next show is London Championship Show entries close Saturday 16th August -
see July Cavies for details.
Due
to me moving next week and our family holiday, I would be grateful if
any prospective new members would not send applications until after

RARE VARIETIES
CAVY CLUB
1967 all varieties of cavy
accepted by the National Cavy Club had their own specialist club, except
the Tortoiseshell and the Brindle. It
was then that the Rare Varieties Cavy Club (RVCC) was formed to cater for
these breeds and renew interest in them, also providing a club for further
new breeds that might develop.
The club now caters for the
Tortoiseshell, Brindle, Tri / Bicolours, Satin, Argente, Harlequin, Magpie, Slate, Tan, Fox, Teddy, Ridgeback, Belted, Pink-eyed
Cream and Sable breeds.
Area shows are held at venues
around the country, with
usually five to seven shows held annually.
Points are awarded to winners at these shows and medals are awarded
at the end of the year and presented at the AGM.
Diplomas are offered to
winners of RV classes with at least three entrants, at open shows.
Members must send first prize cards to the secretary to claim.
Small permanent awards are made at the end of the year to members
winning most diplomas. (1st,
2nd, 3rd)
Championship Certificates are
awarded to cavies winning five first prizes under club rules.
Club officials are elected
biennially. The RVCC
Standards Committee is elected to deliberate on and present breed
standards to the British Cavy Council for approval via the club BCC
Representative.
The club provides articles
and a regular notes for the ‘Cavies’ magazine and for publication via
the club’s website. The
RVCC Handbook is usually printed every two years, and this is free to
members. The club website located at www.rvcc.co.uk
In addition the club has a library service which contains a range
of books and papers. Members
may be supplied with copies of various topics for the cost copying and
postage.
